Scholarship of Teaching and Learning
SOTL @ UAF
In the interest of improving student learning experiences methodically and collaboratively, UAF is launching an initiative to support the scholarship of teaching and learning. With a focus on equity, this initiative will support select instructors in honoring their courses as the teaching experiments that they are.
In 2023, with support from the Provost’s Office, the Center for Student Success, and UAF eCampus, faculty will work together to review student success data in their courses, ask questions about barriers and contributors to success, and design interventions to address equity gaps identified through this process. The program will follow participants through at least one semester of teaching with these interventions to help understand and document their impacts. Finally, participants will share their learning with a wider audience through a written report, presentation, grant or SEP proposal, or other method. This SOTL@UAF initiative will run Spring 2023 – Spring 2024. Apply by March 8, 2023.

Participants in this program can expect monthly meetings, asynchronous dialogue and writing, and required participation in a 3-day workshop in May 2023. Questions? Contact Jen Tilbury (jltilbury@alaska.edu) or Kendell Newman (klnewman4@alaska.edu).
