Barn-Raising: Design your Spring course
December 6, 8, 10, 11am-4pm | January 5, 6, 7, 9am-2pm
Join UAF eCampus instructional designers for a facilitated “Barn-raising”, which lays out a set of tasks and deadlines to get your course online and ready-to-go in just three days. As ‘guided’ practice, the top 6-10 minutes of each hour faculty will be shown how to perform specific tasks. Then they are asked to work on that task during the next 50 minutes. Participants should plan to be at a computer with access to Zoom throughout the three-day program. This is a Canvas-specific Barn-Raising, so participants will be expected to build in the Canvas LMS.
Fresh Start Course Update
Next session TBD
The Fresh Start Course Update Workshop is three-day virtual workshop where you will reflect on and refresh a course for the Spring semester. With support from eCampus designers, fellow participants, and research-informed rubrics and resources, you will prepare ahead for a renewed and invigorated start to the next semester.
The November 2021 Workshop is for adjunct instructors and will be sponsored by the Faculty Accelerator with stipends for those who complete.
Expert-Centered Events
Faculty often conduct presentations in collaboration with the eCampus Instructional Designers. Our Design Team here at UAF provides more pedagogical opportunities than any other unit on campus and each is an experienced educator and expert educational technologist. Use this form to reserve your seat at upcoming events.
Faculty Learning Communities
Learn Together
Faculty Learning Communities (FLCs) bring faculty together from across UAF to study and create shareable resources around a current topic in teaching and learning. In 2019-2020, FLCs included Trauma-Informed Pedagogies, Best Practices for High-Enrollment Online Courses, and Best Practices for Dual-Enrollment Online Courses. See all FLCs here.
